Were they the complainer, or were they the worldbuilding partner? I vaguely remember the wank but not the identities.

They were the complainer. If I remember, they talked on EAD about needing help worldbuilding, then someone told them they could ask for a beta through a hippo, and shortly afterward a hippo announced a request for worldbuilding help for Watchmen. Then the comments appeared on FFA complaining that their worldbuilding partner was useless.

I was surprised that nobody brought that comment up later when people started speculating about them being related to the Watchmen wank.

I don't think I ever realized the canon in question was Watchmen. Incredible. I didn't even realize the Watchmen requester was them until way late in the game, because I've been kind of skimming BFE wank lately.

This made me open the Yuletide collection. There are 2 Watchmen fics there. Neither of them is more than 10k, but I assume fishspeakers hasn't updated it yet.
