I still comment it's the best

I don't give a hoot about AI drama so my soul slept well that night.

idc about the drama either, i’d just feel awful about myself if i used AI. any positive attention the fic got would feel cheapened, and i’d always know that i chickened out and cheated. i’d know the depth of my own creative cowardice.

i actually got frantic enough to consider using AI this year - i defaulted instead. at that point, why am i even doing a fic exchange, you know? it’s a hobby, not a job.

I don't consider it cheating any more than I consider using brushes other people made as cheating in art.

fair! i don’t know enough to have a blanket opinion on it tbf, i just know it would feel like cheating to me. like, the decision to use it would be coming from my own fear of creating (and of defaulting). and, yknow, having to lie about it since most exchanges don’t allow AI

Those really aren't the same thing at all.

They're pretty comparable.

No, comparable is making a picture with AI.

If you used portions of it in your own work, sure, that would also be comparable.

Yeah, but you gotta hand in an assignment if you want a gift.

But legitimately, if you just want a story why not just put your own prompt into the AI instead of your recip's and save all the extra trouble?

and most ai won't write you anything above pg rating.

There are AI that specialize in not PG (though I think admittedly they aren't as good as the most up to date Chat GPT)

But if the argument is that AI doesn't produce fic that's good enough for you to want as a gift, then don't give it to other people either. And if it is good enough, then just let it write your gift.

That was my point. I don't use AI at all because I don't like the fic it produces. I wouldn't gift it to someone, I wouldn't use it for myself. If I was happy with the quality, I wouldn't think of using AI as creating and wouldn't feel guilty about it, but that's purely theoretical at this point.

Plenty of AI writing applications will write explicit fic. No, CGPT won't, but applications using it will.
