I prefer the generality of "recip" to comment, name, comment. Why are you putting my name in there? It's also annoying in most cases in real life, at least when it's a one-to-one conversation.

If you want to say something, my preference is just for you to say it. No need to address me in-text. I am already addressed, because the For X fills out automatically.

Also, sometimes there's information about the fic that's there instead of in the freeform tags/summary. Like, this story goes AU from Chapter 5 of OotP. I subscribe to the interpretation that Bellatrix was not deliberately trying to kill Sirius.

This is so weird to me. You can skim over it, it doesn’t do you any damage, they’re trying to be nice. I don’t get feeling this salty about someone just… saying they hope you like the gift they made you.

It’s never happened to me, but I use recip in case the recip hates the fic and wants to reject. It’s awkward for everyone involved if a rejected gift has “I hope you love this, kelli24546!”

Also some recips are insane and run to coal if you have a generic "Happy holidays" or whatever on a fic where they feel you went ODAO. By not specifically indicating the comment was directed at them (or saying nothing at all) you have given further proof you posted drawer fic.
