Can't tell if absolute lack of activity in the Yuletide discord is because Morbane's apology is so awkward or because no one's had fun there for a long time

I think that kitsunerei88 person and the fit they were throwing is deeply unpleasant. Correcting someone on a wrong terminology isn't "policing your language", ffs. It's not a personal attack. I'm not active in the channel but that comment made me want to come out of lurking.

i'm not a big fan of policing how people use language, which is how I'm feeling right now. "You don't have a bus pass, you have x instead." I think it's clear we use "bus pass" to mean "a stage of done/a milestone we'd like to celebrate/something I'd be satisfied going live."

But sure, if it makes you feel like "bus pass" is used "correctly", I'm just done but for a final read through close to reveals. Just Done.

I'm just going to put out there that I was excited about being done and then was basically told "you're using language incorrectly" and that kind of spoiled my celebration

So like, yeah

In fairness to Kit, the first apology was simultaneous with her last angry comment. So it's not like a lot of apologies came and then she flounced. Possibly she'll return after she's cooled down.

Couple of people talk about posting bus passes, Morbane says a couple of times that's not what that means, some people politely say that is actually how they use the term, kit comes back to say that's not okay because it was scolding them for being proud of their milestone (including saying they're never going to post again), the main mods gradually apologize

Basically ESH out of kit and Morbane but also a nothingburger; Morbane DID sound like she was scolding when that wasn't warranted because it was perfectly clear what kit meant, and kit's response was dramatic too. Though I've seen kit talk shit about recipient's before so I'm biased.

Kit's annoying in that 'must be the centre of attention' way and Morbane was right. The language around bus passes seems to be drifting but a bus pass is not something to be proud of, it's admitting you threw together something barely in time.

It gives me the sense of dashing off something and then moving quickly on.

Though I probably only feel that way because, over a week ago, kit said she'd started a story and realized it ran up against her recip's DNWs. Very normal, starting again, oh well. Then someone asked if her original story might work for someone else's requests in the same fandom and she immediately said she didn't even have time to look.

fair enough, but i think in context it’s obvious enough that’s not what people meant. and idk what’s wanky about kit not having the time/energy or not wanting to plan for a treat when you’re already having to start over? i don’t think about treats until i have my assignment at a workable level either
