Hmm. I could probably churn out 1000 words of Space Orcs origfic but I cannot figure out what they are talking about with McMansion Hell being part of that. Help, everyone? What Tumblr post did I miss?

I don't think they mean a specific McMansion Hell post, they want something in the style of the blog itself where humanity/earth is the McMansion and the alien is the critic. For example you'd have an alien write up their visit to a human suburb with pictures of the manicured lawns that they've covered with arrows and text boxes dragging all the absurdities, like "aggressively wasteful monoculture accented with canine feces, it's giving [hated enemy empire]".

I guess? That's more or less all I could come up with too. But "humans are tacky, ugly, poorly designed and tastelessly wealthy" really isn't the general vibe of humans are space orcs, so I still don't really know what they want (unless there's a corner of the meme that's gone in that direction that I don't know about.)

I have no idea but if I were writing it I guess I'd write the aliens sharing wild conjecture about what a human house would be like that leans into the scary orc cliché. Stuff like "and I hear that being surrounded by a pit full of liquid as a defensive measure is a status symbol!" and finding ways to make baby gates and automatic light sensors sound scary.

Like, make doors equipped with smart cameras sound scary but for the wrong reasons.

ayrt That could work! Not Space Orcs from a McMansion POV, but McMansions from a Space Orc pov. If that's what it is I'm still a bit befuddled at the prompter acting like everyone would know exactly what they meant though.

Sandrine's Jaytim (DCU) prompts are so good, unfortunately I've totally soured on that canon.

It's really sad that Sandrine keeps ending up on PH lists. They have great prompts and are a really nice person, and their fandoms aren't all that obscure.

i think that's mostly cos of bfe. i've seen sandrine's requests sneered at for being atg for a hero/villain ship just cos sandrine doesn't ask for dark fucky noncon. sandrine has perfectly good ships and prompts but bfe won't pick em up.

I've worked out that when people say bfe they mean fail_fandomanon somehow, but what is "atg"?

"Any Two Guys". It's usually used in a negative way to refer to OOC ship fic where the characters could be anyone. It's the kind of story where it looks like someone wrote a generic thing and put the right names later.

Huh. Hero/Villain is usually one of most popular pairings in every fandom, though.

Bangs, Fests, and Exchanges, is usually the title for the exchange threads on FFA. I was really confused as well.

Nonnie, that makes no sense.

No one thinks the requests are ATG, and she does request dark noncon for some ships. Apart from Slade/Dick, the ships are just not exchange popular so the pool of pinch hitters is somewhat limited.

But I agree with the coalie who said her lingering is more likely to be due to exchange-unpopular fandoms. I have a similar problem with my fandoms, which is why I rarely do exchanges outside of Yuletide.

The ATG Brock Rumlow person referred to there is kalika_999, I'm pretty sure. I don't think that was about Sandrine at all.
