I completely do not see how you are inferring this. The mods say, if you don't link your letter in the signup, your signup won't have a letter. I don't see anywhere that they say that you can't make a letter and link it in the app even if you haven't linked it in the signup.

DC The special tagset app (where letters are uploaded pre-request-reveals) is different from the normal autoao3 app (where all the Yuletide requests will be scraped and revealed).

I guess you could still upload your letter to the tagset app, but nobody is going to be checking that from now on.

Your writer won't see it unless they go hunting. It's supposed to be there during signups, not added after the fact because that's straight up not fair to your assigned writer, who will be going on the assignment email which will not contain your letter.

If you think it's fine, go ask the mods. I think they were pretty clear that it's not.

ayrt - the mods actually emailed me asking if I had more information about my DNWs and requests, and said that I could reply with it, or give them a link to a letter. So it sounds to me like it's no big deal to write a late letter. Maybe email the mods and give them the link to pass on to your writer, but it's not like it's "not fine."

I think it's different if the mods ask you for details because your author wants them, vs. an author who probably isn't even checking their email and is expecting to go on what was first provided.

There's no rules saying where you can and can't talk about what kind of stuff you'd like to see in your gift.

If it's not linked in your sign-up, it's not an official "letter" and everyone will just laugh at you if you complain your recip ignored it (and it doesn't count for official-rules stuff like the IF rule) but nobody's going to stop you. The app and spreadsheet aren't official, so it's up to them what they include.
