I don't think any of us only give others information that they've specifically asked for. That would make it hard to make friends and get to know each other, and if that were the expected norm, I think fandom would feel pretty cold and impersonal :(

It would definitely be weird to talk about sex at work or a family dinner, but Yuletide is not SFW. If people are already talking about their kinks, sharing personal info as part of writing a fun and engaging letter, reading and writing porn, etc... I don't think it's crazy or even remarkable for someone to mention that they have anal sex IRL. And that's all it was - they mentioned it, offhandedly, in a jokey way. No big deal, IMO.

This is infinitely more graphic than anything in the letter, for one, and for two, I would be far more comfortable with my mother knowing I had anal sex than her knowing I was into scat porn or the specific type of dom/sub dynamic I like to read about.

What do you think people tell their mothers when they get pregnant, coalie? People's mums often know that their adult children have sex, and everyone's fine with that. I'm in favour of everyone, including mums, knowing that using lots of lube and doing some prep is the best practice for having enjoyable anal sex!
