And another one!

I see my nemesis getting a fic that I love
And I'm like, "Fuck you"
I guess my 10k letter wasn't enough
I'm like, "Fuck you and fuck morbane, too"
Said, "If I was a long commenter, they woulda gamed for me"
Ha, now ain't that some shit?
(Ain't that some shit?)
And although there's pain in my chest
I still comment it's the best
And runs to coal to shout "Fuck you"

Yeah, in truth I thought it would be fine at first because I’ve also been The One Good Author in a tiny fandom and I know how lonely and boring that can be, plus some of their aesthetic requests in the letter were very much my jam. I’m just looking at it now realizing we’re kind of on different branches of that, so I just…have to hope they like the weirder and less cool one.

Or sex? I am thinking about just writing a stand-alone sex scene as a warmup/fallback.

I saw a DNW that mentioned not wanting pro-colonizing attitudes for a sci-fi canon and immediately went :D

Anything that's out of print in book form or not available on DVD or internet for movies/TV shows.

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence has David Bowie as a WW2 POW who falls in love with his captor. There's one person who has a request for it on Yuletide.

I guess it depends on what you mean by obscure. I've written for short videos where my work was the first and still only fic in the fandom, but they are available online, so not really obscure in that sense.

My most obscure gift (a Madness treat) was in the most obscure canon I've nominated and requested, RPF for a character from ancient Persia whose name is probably not familiar to anyone who hasn't specifically studied that era.

I regularly nominate Chinese dramas with no available subtitles, so probably those.

A post-apocalyptic YA series I read in middle school in the 2000s. Only 8 works on ao3 and absolutely no fandom or fanbase to speak of (the first book has over 100k ratings on goodreads, but the rest of the series is in the low thousands). Offered it on a whim, not expecting to match on it, but as far as I can tell they were the only person who requested it, and I was the only person who offered it. Really enjoyed working on it and tbh it's one of my favorite fics I've written to this day.

A fifty-year-old academic monograph. (It's been pretty much continuously in print since then, though, so not very obscure as academic monographs go.)

You've clearly never been in a fandom with a lot of ace headcanons applied to characters who canonically experience sexual desire.

See: Laurent from Captive Prince.

Nothing.

I wouldn't sign up only with such canons, but I would and have signed up with such canons.

Japanese dramas and films from the 70s through early 2000s that usually have 0 English subs, but may have subs in other East Asian languages like Chinese and Vietnamese. I have had only one time that someone wrote one of my requests for these fandoms, and it was a fan who'd watched it in Chinese! I stopped requesting these for the most part because no one has ever shown interest since.

The year is 2035, Morbane Prime has arisen from the trenches of the Subset Conflict, her sights fixed on the last remaining blorbo. Dispatches from our discord spies tell us that the mods will not recognize a Christmas truce, will go ahead with the butt purge, a clear violation of our DNWs.

Our only hope: We must send a coalie back to 2023, the year it all began. Their impossible mission? Write a festive fic, restore the spirit of the holiday season, and save the future of Yuletide.

A film from the 1930s. I'd out myself if I told you any more.

My assignment is for a kinda-ongoing canon (single installment when I got into it, sequel just released), and my copy of the sequel is in indefinite international shipping limbo. I'm paranoid that I'm not going to get it by deadline, that my fic will contradict it somehow, and that I will therefore RUIN YULETIDE for my recip, even though my recip only prompted for the first installment. This is stupid! This canon barely has continuity! And yet, terror.

I nominate stuff in hopes that other fans will show up, even if I don't really expect them to. Sometimes it works!

Songs, mostly; I've written and received gifts for some random album tracks. Maybe some tabletop RPGs? I feel like most of mine are not conventionally obscure so much as just stuff without transformative fandoms.

I always write arty fics where I carefully curate every word and for the last few Yuletides I have received tropey shippy bullshit from the same author and I could not be happier with it. Praying to get them again absolutely chef's kiss.

Just because someone writes A* meaningful fic, that doesn't mean they don't want your stuck-in-a-cabin!

Is the 90s furry fantasy self published thing a book or comic? Furry coalie is intrigued.
