If you don't understand the difference between language used in an informal chat space and language used in narrative writing IDK what to tell you. You also probably really don't want to know how much of today's "correct" language was made up and incorrect when it first came into use

This is just what I osmosed, so I may be wrong. Many years ago, she wrote a Yuletide fic for someone who shipped a m/m pairing. In the fic, an ambulance ran over one of the men killing him (if I remember correctly, he was also thinking about women before he died and showed no interest for men). The other man ended up in a m/f relationship.
