Second year in a row with a mid main gift that screams "baby's first yuletide"
I'm not mad, I'm not even disappointed, I just don't necessarily love the gift, and the issues aren't malice, just inexperience. I hope my writer had fun creating it. :)

It works different for everyone. I'm enjoying my gifts far more since I've started shaking them. I can get the "oh no, I'm not getting a gift in fandoms X and Y" disappointment (which happens inevitably, no matter which fandom I get, because I love all my fandoms equally and I'm happy with whatever fandom I get, but it also means mourning all the other fandoms I requested) out of the way long before reveals and I can prepare myself for whatever length the gift is and get over that initial disappointment when it's very short until I read it.

I deleted 4 words I decided changed the characterization in ways I didn't like and now I'm staring at one word in the ending I'm convinced would work better if it was a different word, telling myself I should have some self control and just let things go.

I would be too keyed up while waiting for you to comment to spot the typos or the bad formatting, and in fact would not be able to look at what I'd written again at all until someone who wasn't me said something to me about it. No amount of waiting would be helpful.

AUGH I checked my fic earlier and somehow the version that I was editing wasn't the one that posted as my recip's gift? No idea how that worked out. The other version is still sitting unrevealed, and my poor recip got my (not good) bus pass. Fixed it, thankfully; I just hope they didn't see it yet. This'll teach me to quadruple check my work.
