Because when she handed over the regular duties to new mods, they said at the time that she maintained ownership and that there were some things they couldn't do, it was widely discussed at the time, because of some changes that were proposed that year. Some people thought the new mods got a shit deal as they had to do the work and deal with all the complaints but didn't have overall control.

Did anyone think astolat was going to hand over yuletide entirely? Did anyone really and truly think that?

And nothing's changed since, so unless or until ownership change does happen, yuletide's still astolat's and presumably won't be leaving AO3, she's had a decade of watching other people do the work, but hasn't signed yuletide over to them, so i doubt she will now.

She did sign it over to them. Her name on the collection is a courtesy AFAIK, in case something like the 2016 assignment purge happens again.

The only public comments about the handover were very clear about the fact that she was maintaining ownership, that there were limits on the powers of the new mods, and things they couldn't change, there's never been anything said to contradict that unless you have links to back up your assertion that she hasn't kept ownership.

Yes, I do. The mods have frequently stated changeovers in the mod team in the years since astolat left. Astolat is not mentioned.

Also, she has posted evidence for fandoms she wanted to include and had them rejected. That doesn't look like ownership to me.

Yes new mods have been added, and she had a ineligible fandom rejected, both things were standard and say nothing about her giving up ownership. I'm sure if she had done that people would have talked about it somewhere, the yuletide comms, discord, ffa or here, but that's never happened, unless you've got links that say otherwise?
