Well, to start with all the people who left AO3 will be banned for deleting old exchange fic.

they could just orphan it instead. or anonymize it.

You can't anonymize if you're deleting your account. And sure, people who are leaving because they have huge moral/ethical issues with the platform are definitely going to be ok with leaving their work posted there in a way that they no longer have any control over, a great solution.

(I have no particular feelings about this, mind you, except massive schadenfreude some of the people I've seen deleting their AO3 exchange fic in the last couple months are the same people who were overwrought six months ago about *why* anyone would *dare* ever *delete* a gift fic!)
