"I hope that AO3 will never implement bans based on the morality of content. It may not be pleasant to encounter racism in works, but if we use that as grounds for banning them, then underage and noncon will be next to go. That, and works written by people like my grandmother in rural China who is racist in a commonplace way in her town. The idea of English-speakers telling large swaths of rural China what is and isn't acceptable. . . that doesn't sit right with me."

I am making the slippery slope argument because any argument against allowing racism in works will then be applied to underage and noncon. It will resemble someone's real-life experiences. It will upset some users to read. Some works will portray underage and noncon as being hot. If we ban racism in works, on the grounds that it's harmful, well, how is it harmful? The arguments I see most often are that it normalizes racist behavior, either by exposing people to it so they are less shocked, or by making people think it's ok. These same arguments can be applied to underage and noncon too.

If you have a different argument, for why racism in fictional works is different from underage and noncon, feel free to make it! Preferably without wording like "don't you dare" though. :/"
