I can see why they wouldn't be able to draw that line, depending on how important the characters were to them. The show did write Finn's death into the story, so revisiting the canon might be painful for them. Also, a man dying from a drug overdose and a woman accidentally drowning while trying to protect her son's life is a whole different ball of wax from the Prince of Wales allegations, as disgusting as that is to have to type out. lovelyflowersinherhair seems to have Issues when it comes to the royal family and seems to need to jump through mental hoops to excuse Andrew, so that's probably how they separated those things mentally. They also seem to not like Diana at all and thus their death seems to not effect them in the same way and allows them to paint her as a villain in their fic. It's not great and doesn't make them a good person either, but anon above me is right that it's an entirely different thing from why they were disgusted with lovelyflowersinherhair in the first place.
