I read the Rusty Lake fic. It was pretty good! This is a nitpicky beta note, but I think I would have liked a little more variation in paragraph length? A meaty longer paragraph is good once in a while. I also wanted some of the paragraphs combined, like when you've got a paragraph of Ms Pheasant talking and then another paragraph of her thoughts.
