Compare the comment on that to the comment on the other fic they got. They were very much being polite.

Yeah, they clearly loved the other fic, and they didn't have as much to say about this one. I hadn't compared. But I also think it's fine to say more about fics you love most and less about ones you like (I don't think everybody needs to try to make their comments equal across gifts, because it's okay to like some things more than you like others.)

In this case, you're probably right. Especially since the recip says "thank you?" with the actual question mark. I wonder if that was a typo.

Lol no need to compare comments. The one in the wtf fic is a more fleshed out and personalised version of "I hope you had fun writing this for yourself, thank you for my gift."
