I know I'm being salty AF but I'm still annoyed that the multiple people I beta'd for didn't acknowledge me. Not even a "thanks to my beta." Nothing.

Aren’t you supposed not to until after reveals?

You shouldn't name your beta if you think it will deanon you, but you should at least acknowledge them (even if not by name).

Only if your thanks to your beta is like "thank you, bestie Rainbowsocks!" and there are five fics in the fandom and they're all you and Rainbowsocks beta-ing for each other.

+2, the deanoning rule is "is this obvious at a glance" more than "can an obsessive reader armed with a spreadsheet and a PhD in statistics figure this out to a 95% confidence level".

With yuletide the options for your author are often "this is another member of my small friend group" or "my nom hooked a new person!!!" and if the beta gives away A you have very much reduced the pool of possibilities.

If it's a hippo beta or smth sure it's probably fine but there are enough general warnings out there that a lot of people don't anyway.

This, yeah.

A lot of people edit beta thanks in after reveals. patience, coalie.
