Unrequested crossover with other canon installments that the recip says they're not familiar with. They don't seem too upset about it, so maybe it doesn't matter. It's their only gift though.

I think they're just being polite. I would generally read "A gentle side note" as the polite form of "uhhh wtf dude."

The recip is great, too. I had them on my list to treat this year but didn't have time. :(
