I have learned that my author taking the time to include something I wrote into their fic for me can suffuse me with mad joy.

Yes! A while ago I got multiple (!) gift fics from different authors that all included my headcanons for the main characters' backstory/relationship. (They weren't in my requests, but they were in the fics I wrote for that fandom.) I could not express my sheer, heart-warmed joy in words.
