Yeah, but it doesn't sound like OP did that. If I got a request that had prompts that were all A/B or A-centric, I might get the impression that A was my recip's fave and make sure they were the focus character, but I wouldn't dream of setting myself up for a ban by writing a fic where B never even showed up.

you should have requested only A then, and prompted for A solo or A/B. requesting A and B when you don't want A & B in yuletide is fucking dumb.

If I had a dollar for every request I've seen for two male characters in Yuletide where the only prompts were shippy and coalies would agree that writing A&B for that was coal, I could retire.

“Does not have to include B” and “don’t include B unless it’s shippy” are two very different caveats though

They're different, but both are fine IMO. Anyone offering A and B knows that they might get matched to someone requesting only A and DNWing B (there are characters I don't offer because I'm not interested in writing them solo!).
