My guess would be that the mods scanned your assigned gift, realized it was a partial, got a pinch-hit. The thing that's revealed now is your pinch hit, the thing that will be revealed Jan 1 is the original fic, now a Madness fic.

I got caught with an unfinished bus pass one year and they did not give me the option of having til January 1st lol -- I ended up gifting it to my recip as a treat (on time) but was still required to write a NYR to get out of yulejail.

One year I had a second gift even tho I had one posted before deadline. i think I went to ph too? I didn't shake to see which was which but on reveals one of them had a confusing AN apologising about what sounded like a dnw slip? I never found out what happened but now I think mods specifically checked them...
