Dear almost treat recipient, I hope you weren't bummed when you saw your gift count go down. I was pretty sure you would have been okay with what I wrote, but the (canon appropriate) ending skated dangerously close to one of your stated dislikes. The closer we got to reveals, the more uncertain I felt, so I deleted it. The last thing I want to do is make someone feel bad, especially on Christmas.

You've given me lovely comments in the past and I really wanted to write something just for you. I hope to make it up to you next Yuletide.

Dear Yuletide mods who saw my bus-pass-that-was-not-actually-a-bus-pass: If it seemed strange/off to someone who knows the fandom, that was because it was indeed adaptation fic with the names changed. I am deeply sorry for doing that but I also hope that this is proof that the versions are different enough that this canon should continue to be eligible for YT.

I am horrified at myself. I had 3 gifts and thought I left comments on all of them yesterday (I just got back from traveling). Only to realize today that I actually fell asleep partway through (jetlag?) and only DREAMED I left a comment on the last one. Omg!!!

Dear everyone else in my big-for-yuletide fandom, why does the best fic for this ship still have the least amount of kudos? I admit I'm biased because it was a gift for me and very much written to my specific tastes, but also, I'm right, this is an incredible fic, I won yuletide, and I want everyone else to praise my author too.

Dear treat author from a previous year whose gift has turned into a 404 error sometime in the past few days, what happened? I left an enthusiastic comment. Of the two gifts I received that year, yours was the one I liked better. If you'd done this anytime other than yuletide season, I probably wouldn't have noticed my number of gifts had dropped by one, but now I've noticed and I'm baffled. This is the second time this has happened to me, and both in the same fandom. What's with this fandom? Stop ungifting things!
