Okay I see this happened to at least one other coalie so did anyone else get the unrevealed gift email?? Who knows what happened?

I'm so confused why they seem to still be allowed in the main collection and not NYR?

They're not? My email said that the gift would be revealed outside the collection.

yeah they're not part of the collection so that's makes it even weirder that the mods said anything and didn't just kick the fic out of the collection??

I guess they know people check their gifts page in advance and know how many they're getting and didn't want to deal with people freaking out/contacting them about "missing" gifts

Speaking as a mod who has done this for her exchange, the problem is that if you kick something from the collection it's immediately revealed and the recip is notified, and if these placeholders are as bad as the ones I have seen, they probably want to give the authors time to fix them or delete them or go anonymous, because hoo-boy would they be embarrassed to have this crap show up under their names.

Honestly I am gobsmacked at how the Yuletide team manages to check so many works for placeholders. I have a far smaller fraction (though also just me) and it's exhausting.

I've been wondering this, too. So many damn fics, and such a tiny tiny amount of time between the collection's closing and reveals.
