What would you change? Or would you keep it all pretty much the same?

1-make comments mandatory

2-put the PH prompts post up earlier (apparently this is happening this year!)

3-get rid of Madness and have treats in the main collection, tagged as such

And the rest stays the same!

I'd be tougher when it comes to bans for bad behavior. Badly behaved socks? Gone. Spitefic? You're out.

And one of the first to go would be Untherius.

He's not one of the "lovable weirdos" like the people who enjoy toads, monkeys and bugs. He's a blatant bigot, a pompous ass and as far as I'm concerned, a bad faith participant who fails to read the room Every. Single. Time.

1. Rename the collections so they sort better in AO3.
2. Only assignments and pinch hits in the main collection, no treats
3. Stop allowing fandoms that share IP with large fandoms
4. Require an evidence post for all RPF & mythology/lore fandoms/alternatively require rpf and lore to be based on a specific fixed source canon

Also 5. Exclude crossovers in the eligibility filter.

Ban RPF totally. Or maybe allow it if the person died more than 100 years ago.

Partially because it squicks me personally and I'm an asshole like that, and partially because it seems like every year RPF people are bending and stretching rules to get their people nominated. The rules cause frustration, confusion and disagreements every time for a) the people who write and request it, b) the people who have other grey area canons that aren't given the same treatment, and c) just casual observers.

Better just to have a blanket ban.

I feel like requiring a specific fixed canon would work around that. Like, you can't nominate Frederic the Great RPF, but you can nominate a specific published collection of his letters. You can't nom British Comedy, but you can nom QI. You can't nom US politics but you can nominate
All The President's Men. Etc. Use the same rules as for any other fixed canon.

But that's similar to what it is and everyone is nominating hockey teams where the person played once 5 years ago to get around eligibility requirements. I'm not sure making it more specific will really help.

People aren't "bending and stretching the rules," they're just following the rules that are already explicitly laid out. If you find that frustrating and end up getting in disagreements about it... surely that is a you problem.

- Change the eligibility requirements. FF.net is now out, max numbers of works on AO3 is now 300 (complete, English, >1k).
- Relationship matching!
- Visible requests during sign-ups.
- All treats go into Madness, which opens at the same time as the main collection. Treats can never become main gifts.

Wow I don't want any of these things.

Up minimum word count to 2k. Accounts with no fics previously posted (at all) are not allowed to sign up without first posting a 1k fic

Why a 1k fic if the minimum is 2k?

I would cry

Eliminate ffn from consideration or limit it to fics published in the last, say, 7 years. If the fandom had less than 10 new fics in the past 3 years it's in.

Stop with that nonsense where tag wranglers refuse to wrangle new fandom tags before yuletide.

Main fics in main collection, treats in madness, regardless of what the fic is like

Change eligibility requirements to 1000 fics on ffnet/ao3, crossovers excluded, but written in the past 10 years.
