Something about the pressure of a looming deadline helps my brain focus. Even if I don't have a word written by the default deadline, the posting deadline will kick things into gear, as long as I don't let myself out of it.

So every year I think about defaulting, and every year I remind myself "you've always met the posting deadline before, no reason to think you can't do it again - just don't give yourself an excuse to stop trying."
