someone ought to do it anyway, since the updated app's search functionality is a sight better than the yuletide app. it just takes a while to churn through the 200+ request pages /coadie yawn

To be honest I understood "pastiche" as "imitation of ANOTHER style" (like writing star wars fic in a Jeeves and Wooster style) so I think specifying would be better

Saw that one of the signups in a fandom I offered has (1) "Any" character (for a fandom with about a dozen nominated characters, plus "Worldbuilding"), (2) no optional details, and (3) no letter linked, so (a) I dodged a bullet and (b) I pity whoever got it!

I'm glad I didn't add the offer I was thinking about, otherwise I might've gotten an assignment which consists of them basically saying they're actually into a connected ineligible fandom, and then asking if their writer can add elements from another fandom that they forgot to nominate.

I get the 'insert scene' and the copypasta, but sentence fragment? Do people really write that way? If I didn't finish the paragraph or at least the sentence, when I got back to writing, I'd have no idea where I was going with it.

I've seen this in writing advice - stop in the middle of a scene or sentence, so you can easily jump back into the flow next time, instead of trying to summon inspiration again.

It might work for some brains, but mine is the same as yours - I would totally forget whatever brilliant ending I had planned.

what's the difference between the main collection and madness?

Main collection = meets all the requirements of fulfilling an assignment for the current year

Madness = shorter than 1000 words, doesn't exactly fit request per letter of the law, or in non-standard format; opens a day later.

I've been a sensitivity beta reader for fanfic and I would be INCREDIBLY uncomfortable being a paid sensitivity editor. Professionally representing my ethnicity is very different than sharing my individual experience with an acquaintance. Exchanging money doesn't magically solve racism. Put some more thought into it.

So what is this, really? Just a way to tag on extra requests to your signup, because you didn't or couldn't include them officially? Like if I only officially requested 3 fandoms because I want them the most, but there's a 4th I'd want treats from as long as it wasn't my only gift? Like that?

I didn't mean to, I just looked at the fandoms listing out of curiosity and when I saw my fandom, I checked my gifts page. I'm leaving it alone for now otherwise, though.
