I think most of the early letter posters are the type of participants who nominate exactly what they want to request and don't add additional fandoms based on the tagset. I've been that myself, when there are exactly three things I want beyond anything else. This year, I waited until the tagset went public and half of my requests are things I hadn't thought about until I saw them in the tagset. My letter is nowhere near ready because of that.
