No. Aurae recently changed their name to Aariel. Aurae changes their name every year. Whether that has anything to do with Aeriel*, someone who isn't remotely in their fandoms and may never have interacted with them before, is your pure speculation.

Sorry for sounding like I was casting aspersions on a user you liked! That wasn't my intention. I was just pointing out that "change your name to someone else on the exchange circuit, but off by a letter, to create annoyance and chaos" is something that Aurae has already done.

No, I didn't think you were casting any aspersions on them. I just don't think we have evidence that Aurae specifically chose the new name Aariel to be one letter off from Aeriel's on purpose. There are a lot of names. Aeriel has not been particularly active.

Apparently in demonology, Aariel is a demon that commands twenty other demons. Maybe that's the joke. Aariel has definitely chosen names to fuck with people before - see signing up to exchanges as "ayrt" to mess with failmemers, there is no way that wasn't deliberate - I am just not convinced we know that their motivation for picking this name related to its similarity to the name of another user.
