The Coalies Are Back In Town

Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Coaltide Bar'n'Grill
The receipts will flow and wank will spill
And if the coalies wanna fight, you better let 'em
That jukebox in the corner blastin' out my favorite song
The nights are getting longer, it won't be long
Won't be long 'til Yuletide comes
Now that the coalies are here again

Any recs for WW1-related canons? Military-focused or otherwise. I've got a new historical obsession and I'd love to pick up some new canons that I could offer for Yuletide.

The Summer Before the War, which, despite its title, covers the war itself as well as the preceding summer.

Rilla of Ingleside, the last book in the Anne of Green Gables series, is set during WWI, focusing on what life was like for women at home in Canada during the war. It was originally published in 1921, so it's a contemporary depiction. I don't know whether it will be Yuletide-eligible this year, however.
