The Coalies Are Back In Town

Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Coaltide Bar'n'Grill
The receipts will flow and wank will spill
And if the coalies wanna fight, you better let 'em
That jukebox in the corner blastin' out my favorite song
The nights are getting longer, it won't be long
Won't be long 'til Yuletide comes
Now that the coalies are here again

Generally, I'm in favor. I think it'll make finding participants who match your interests (and avoiding those that don't) easier. And it should save the people who didn't nominate a character from having their nomination torpedoed by a different nominator who does want specific characters.

But as someone who likes worldbuilding best when it's delivered by my fav characters interacting with their world, instead of just the world on its own, idk. Like, clearly the solution would be for me to include the Worldbuilding (Fandom) "character" in my request (if it's even nominated), but I'm not 100% sold. Of all the possible changes to Yuletide, I'm not sure if this is the one I'd choose to address the first time there's been an open discussion about rule changes in years. The current system isn't perfect, but idk if it really needs fixing either.

Why not? It's a pretty low-stakes, non-disruptive change if implemented that isn't likely to make things harder on the mod end either. And it's a change mods are actually open to making at this time, which is obviously a key factor.

I'm not sure about that. I think it's going to make for a lot more work at the story checking and dealing with post-reveals complaints stages.

Could be, but I don't think there are going to be that many people that request and match on the worldbuilding tag, if it's implemented, and the current ideas for how the mods would check boil down to... not really checking that aspect, since you'd need canon-specific knowledge to even evaluate it.

Honestly? I think the Yulemods are exactly the sort of people who would write rules that let themselves off the hook for X and then decide to try to do it anyway because they think it would be better if they did. They'll be picking up canons left, right and centre for the sake of evaluating worldbuildiness.
