I'm leaning towards the tumblr user FFA found, since we know Susa nominated Alicia and the one on tumblr is not just a big Alicia fan, but one of the only people to ever actually mention her.

Of course she didn't. What's the bet this yuletide's fake fandom debacle is due to not getting the fandom she secretly wanted the most last year.

Not that this couldn't be the person, but in their sign-up last year, it looks like they explicitly said that the writer could exclude Alicia, and the nominator this year seems pretty Alicia gung-ho.

DC, serious answer: Yes, you can give some a gift in the **Madness** collection even if they didn't request the fandom in Yuletide that year. It can't be any random thing - you should have reason to think they'll like it and it should be a small fandom.

I hate this idea. It shouldn't be a rule. If someone hasn't requested the fandom for Yuletide, don't give it to them in Yuletide. If you must write it, just give it to them outside of Yuletide, or heaven forbid, post it as a normal fic in the fandom.

Giving someone an unrequested fandom in Yuletide just ends up feeling like a desperate grab for more hits.

I've done it for friends who couldn't sign up at all due to Life and were really sad about not getting a gift to open that year? And I've seen people do it for, like, a previous year's request if they new the person still wanted it. And of course for in-jokes.

Madness is crap for getting hits anyway.

Gifting it to the Alicia person when it didn't even get in just seems mean but I would totally gift it to a coalie who expressed interest. (And that would certainly drive home the lesson that the strategy wouldn't work even if you made it through noms.)
