Excluding crossovers, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke (Bungou Stray Dogs) has 6383 fics on AO3 alone. Nakajima Atsushi (Bungou Stray Dogs) has 8348. Nakahara Chuuya (Bungou Stray Dogs) has 15949. Dazai Osamu (Bungou Stray Dogs) has a whopping 20538.

If Bungo Stray Dogs: BEAST can get into Yuletide, anime fans might as well nominate all their Yuletide ineligible fandoms where the characters are drawn as wizards/knights/hosts/baristas/etc in officially released magazine spreads.

I do think substantial AUs which completely change characters and setting should be counted as different things. I wouldn't allow Batman & Dracula, because it's just standard Batman except with vampires, but I might allow Superman: True Brit, because the setting, tone and characters are notably different from standard Superman.

Hang on... Does this mean that I'd be able to nominate that Naruto ending where several of the characters are delinquents in a high school AU and that other Naruto ending where Naruto and Sasuke are ronin for Yuletide? This changes everything.

To me it comes down to "canon but with X pasted on" (don't allow) vs "basically origfic with canon names pasted on" (allow sometimes). I wouldn't allow either of those Naruto endings unless they were demonstrably much more different from canon than those descriptions suggest but I might allow, say, Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days (although that's also not a great canon high school AU example because eventually the angels show up in that universe too). And, of course, where the yuletide mods draw the line is obviously going to be different!
