That has 3416 works on AO3 after filters are applied. I don't think they have a snowflake's chance.

DA - it got in last year because a reasonable case was made that more than 2/3 of those stories are people mistagging every MDZS-related fandom on their Untamed fic. If you exclude the two big MDZS fandom tags, there are only 221 fics left even before the usual filters.

It might have enough more uses now that the case can't be made - iirc it was only barely over 1000 last year before the other fandoms were filtered out - but it'll probably depend on whether any other subfandoms in a similar situation (i.e. certain superhero titles) make it in.

Yeah, with filters and without crossovers (just to eliminate the other tags) it drops to 50, which is hilarious.

It just seems like tagging all the related fandoms is what people do in that fandom, whether it's small getting more eyes by tagging large or large tagging small for... reasons I don't understand. Impossible to tell which is which from the outside.

I suspect it's mostly because there's no All Media Types or & Related Fandoms tag. In previous fandoms I've been in like that, while there was a certain amount of rampant crosstagging, people who were writing in a sort of blended fanon universe just tagged AMT. Which was cool because people who didn't care were probably filtering on that one, or a pairing tag, anyway. But the wranglers have stopped making AMT tags for newer fandoms, it seems like. Which I'm sure is helpful to both the wranglers and the servers, but doesn't really match up with how people actually *do* fandom a lot of the time.

(It was an issue in GO fandom too - no AMT tag, so people tagged book + show for everything that wasn't 100% one or the other, so it became very hard to find pure bookfic.)

That is such bullshit. If they can sneak it in doing that, MCU and comics should be eligible.

I'm betting against, it was a lot more marginal last year and it'll be pretty hard to argue that *all* 6000 crossover taggings are completely mistagged. Especially since the nominator is arguing both that the main difference from canon is the fancy magic, and that most of the taggings are only borrowing the fancy magic.
