The Coalies Are Back In Town

Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Coaltide Bar'n'Grill
The receipts will flow and wank will spill
And if the coalies wanna fight, you better let 'em
That jukebox in the corner blastin' out my favorite song
The nights are getting longer, it won't be long
Won't be long 'til Yuletide comes
Now that the coalies are here again

Yeah, like it had the opposite effect they wanted. They were like, 'look at those horrible people' and I was like, 'oh, that's where I want to be. Those are my trash people.'

I do vaguely recall that second comm!

Uh. You've done a great job at explaining all the different kinds of worldbuilding you wouldn't use Worldbuilding for! I'm not sure what's left though. What *would* you use it for?

I watched them for the first time too! I don't know that I'll request or offer it, but I'll definitely read anything that gets written.

Worldbuilding

(Anonymous) 2021-09-22 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
yuletide-admin definition: In fandom circles, “worldbuilding” stories explore how a fictional world works beyond, or in more depth than, what’s shown in canon. They may focus on the world of a canon in addition to or instead of specific characters and relationships.

How would you interpret this differently with characters vs. without?

Excluding crossovers, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke (Bungou Stray Dogs) has 6383 fics on AO3 alone. Nakajima Atsushi (Bungou Stray Dogs) has 8348. Nakahara Chuuya (Bungou Stray Dogs) has 15949. Dazai Osamu (Bungou Stray Dogs) has a whopping 20538.

If Bungo Stray Dogs: BEAST can get into Yuletide, anime fans might as well nominate all their Yuletide ineligible fandoms where the characters are drawn as wizards/knights/hosts/baristas/etc in officially released magazine spreads.

Re: JunZhe evidence post?

(Anonymous) 2021-09-22 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
It was actually initially with Rapunzel from Tangled, not Frozen, because Frozen wasn't out yet, and iirc it was based on an initial post that cast each of the 4 into a different Hogwarts house. Which led to some Hogwarts AUs, and then the super fandom in general. Initially it was mostly gen or slash/femslash.

Then when Frozen was released, Elsa and/or Anna tended to join in because yes, ice powers.

with no knowledge of the fandom whatsoever, that post definitely made it seem like the ships are set in stone and not to be rearranged.

They've posted an update explaining why it isn't RPF because the actual actors as themselves don't appear in the "canon" at all.

Except for that one coffee commercial. Pretty sure most people who offer it absolutely want to write incest.

(I'm sure there are other examples, but the coffee commercial always comes to mind first.)

+1 Erased is excellent, both the anime and the live-action version. LOTS of child endangerment, though, if that might be a trigger.
