Low-effort with your gift and gone without a trace

Filling your exchange to the brim with fright!

This is Coaltide!

Hard Mode: Jurassic Park III (2001), Alan/Billy-ish

Billy jumps, his feet leave the ground and he can't think about this or he won't and he can't stop here, this isn't where it ends, where it ended, it ends in a helicopter with Alan but it was the beginning for them, this jump and the Pteranodons tearing into him, bit by bit, smeared with his red red blood and he deserves it, everything, for what he did and he can't believe that Alan forgave him, didn't he, after Billy was torn apart, his flesh from his bones and in his dreams he jumps again and again and again.

I have time and enthusiasm for research; preference for historical RPF, but I'm open to others. Which RPF fandoms are most interesting?

Re: Anyone Else Not Doing a Letter This Year???

(Anonymous) 2020-10-10 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm definitely not doing a letter this year. there's really no reason for me to write them anymore. the request box is long enough for me to put a few prompts and my dnws and logging into dw just to post yet another letter has become increasingly less important. i didn't do one last year and still got a bunch of treats.

Due to time travel shenanigans, “Dark” is one of those “surprise, everyone’s related!” shows, but the main couple you’re supposed to be rooting for is a fairly close relation (trying to stay spoiler free on that since it’s the big season one twist).

Hard Mode

Ocean's triology
Danny/Rusty

Rusty’s airplane reservation was booked under one pseudonym and his room at the Mandarin Oriental under another. The note waiting on the pillow told him the attempted subterfuge had failed dismally.

A quick shower and clothing change later, he was in a limo wondering how Danny could still look so good, and how soon they’d get some food.

“We don’t have much time,” Danny said, glancing at his Omega, while simultaneously pulling Rusty in for a lingering kiss of reunion and remorse.

Afterwards, they shared a perfectly chilled take-out selection of Nobu Matsuhisa’s best sashimi.

Danny always thought of everything.

I am so excited that someone nominated Mostly Martha--I love this movie but no one that I know has ever seen it!

What are you into, nonny? Politics? Gay rulers? Wars?

It happens with Assassin's Creed - All Media Types, so maybe it's somehow connected to that? But it is weird that it's not happening with the other games.

It happens with canonical tags that have already been bundled under the parent fandom. So it's not happening with Liberation because that hasn't even been categorized - to the Archive, it's just a random string of text. Possibly the Origins tag isn't a canonical tag either.

LOL, really?

Oh, nice! It's not something I'd offer, but I watched it in a German class years ago and enjoyed it, so I hope it receives at least one fic.

I’m one of the coalies who was talking about starting a whole new fandom identity due to a creepy stalker type who will not leave me the hell alone. But IDK if you can call it a sock if it’s actually going to replace my old fandom identity entirely? Some busybody will might think I’m a sock, I guess?

My dentist and I will both be signing up, as we have since 2017. But we don’t share any fandoms.

I’m not sure yet if my dental hygienist will be joining us. I’m not as excited about their fandoms this year. They’re all about anime and manga and idk why but those fandoms haven’t mixed well with lockdown for me. But I feel bad as they’ve been participating every year since 2012.

Again, of a barely-over or even moderately over fandom slipped through it's incredibly rude to report it.

Seriously, mind your business and don't request/offer it if you have a problem with the fandom and it's not BTS RPF or Harry Potter levels of huge

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
200 works is "not barely over", it's 1/5 of the maximum.

Re: TAGSET

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
EXCITEMENT!

But also, jfc, why is the tagset always such an inconsistent mess? Is it just that Jenn can't help herself and has to edit tags where she thinks she knows best when she really doesn't?

As if the Deadly Seriousness some of the mods seem to apply to the nominations and eligibility isn't bad enough.

Re: TAGSET

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? Why Jenn?

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'm genuinely really pleased that people got their fandoms into YT when they were actually a bit over the 1000 works limit, but it also does really piss me off that the mods are this fucking stupid because the absolute fandom of my heart got bumped from YT when it was literally THREE FICS over the 1000 works limit.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
When was that?

Re: TAGSET

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Like AO3's regular tags a shining beacon of order and consistency.

Between that, 1700+ accounts submitting nominations, and idk how many tag mods each doing their own process, inconsistency seems pretty expected imo.

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
+1

No-one was talking about reporting either, no need to get pissy. If the mods are being consistently loose with their approvals this year, that might be fine, but... it can also be frustrating for people whose fandoms get rejected because they have 1,031 fics while there are fandoms like Promare that slip through. So, what's the big deal if coalies wanna complain in an anon space?

(Anonymous) 2020-10-11 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
When even fandoms with over 2k tagged works make it in you realise that Yuletide eligibility doesn’t mean shit.
