Hey coal, can we please stop arguing with the terf/s.

I get the desire to push back against their hateful ideas, but we are not going to argue them into being not a terf. All that is happening now is giving them more openings to continue spewing their horrible, hurtful shit all over the place.

I really enjoyed the YouTube anon’s music links!

And honestly, old coal was worse when nobody spoke back to the bigots IMO so I’m glad that it’s clearer here how many of us disagree. If only the octopus thread had gotten so many comments, sigh.

This is exactly what hapened at _coal, though. The exact same cyclical arguments going on forever.

It's almost certainly the same terf asshole, too. And like, they're enjoying this, you know? They love everyone taking their bait and continuing to argue with them, giving them more chances to spread their hate. It's so fucked up. Stop engaging them, please.

Aw, no worries here. When this happened at coal it drove so many people away, and I don't blame you or anyone for feeling the same. It's awful.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-09 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Instead of trying to get everyone not to argue with them, which doesn't work if even one person decides that they would rather argue with them, why not just stop reading it?

(Anonymous) 2020-01-10 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
terf is a hateful slur often used with death and rape threats, so you might want to stop using it

ps not believing sexist ideas about gender isn't hate

(Anonymous) 2020-01-10 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
none of this is true

(Anonymous) 2020-01-10 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly, all of it is.

I really want to start replying to everything you say with just "nah". I mean, you deserve it, your opinions deserve it, but coal does not deserve to be flooded with nahs. Probably.

Thanks for such a textbook example of the way terfs co-opt the mannerisms of woke discourse to try to paint themselves as the victims rather than the aggressors.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-10 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
ncyrt

Feminism is not "co-opting" "woke discourse."

(Anonymous) 2020-01-10 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you've confused "feminism" with "prejudice" and "hate."

(Anonymous) 2020-01-10 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're confused which side is peddling "prejudice" and "hate".

(Anonymous) 2020-01-10 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Choosing an inclusive definition of womanhood over policing arbitrary biological boundaries is the opposite of prejudice.

Narrowly defining "women" based on various inaccurate and restrictive sets of scientifically dubious criteria which puts many people--trans women, trans men, people outside the binary, cis women with a wide variety of medical conditions or non normative presentations--at risk? That certainly seems hateful to me.

Funny how it's not the "terfs" sending rape and death threats to those disagreeing with their position.

no one is a "terf"

people are labeled "terfs" just for basing definitions of man, woman, and yes, intersex, from biology instead of vague feelings and stereotypes

there's no group of people putting on their terf shirts going out to bash the trans, just people refusing to believe what the trans narrative dictates

but there's plenty of shit like this

Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie for One

Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter , softened
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 large egg yolk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup chocolate chips
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Instructions
Heat oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C).
Mix together the butter and sugars in a small mixing bowl.
Add the egg yolk and the vanilla and continue mixing until well combined.
Add in the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl and stir until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
Pour cookie dough into a buttered 8-ounce ramekin or spoon cookie dough onto a cookie sheet.
Bake for 22-25 minutes or until top is golden and the edges of the cookie is set.
Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack to cool for 10 minutes

Note: softening your butter really does make a difference! Don't forget!

(Anonymous) 2020-01-11 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you go for all the effort for so small a quantity?

(Anonymous) 2020-01-11 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Because cooking and baking are fun, but sometimes you don't want a lot of sweets in the house!

There definitely are people who are horrifically bigoted, but it's a much smaller percentage of the group that get the label, and it's very easy to get called that without being transphobic at all. I don't consider it a useful term. Don't tell me someone's a terf, tell me what they actually said or did.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-11 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Kinda like with antis and pedophilia?
