They identify and live as women. They face the same institutional misogyny as the rest of us, while also dealing with transphobia on top of that. Biology isn't everything. It is one axis on which women are oppressed, but not the only axis. By the definition of many TERFS, infertile women or women who have had hysterectomies aren't women, and hopefully you agree that that at least is fucking ridiculous.

What does it mean to "identify and live as women"? To me, there is nothing to being a woman to identify into. I know I am a woman because of my biology and basing it on any non-physical attributes is supportive of the sex stereotypes feminism is supposed to fight against. Same with living as women. Is it to use a female name and dress up like women in your society often do and claim to be a woman? If I gave myself a name from another culture and claimed to be of that background, it would still not make me a member of that cultural group. As for clothing, there's nothing intrinsic to them that renders them for women, it's just social roles and expectations again.

I've never seen anybody claim that women who are infertile or have had hysterectomies are somehow less female. This is a strawman.

They do not face the same misogyny as the rest of us, nor would facing that misogyny somehow confer upon them the right to the descriptor woman. In the same way, someone who is straight but regularly taken for gay is entitled to protections that were set up to protect people from homophobia, but not entitled to claim that being treated as if they were gay makes them actually gay despite only being into the other sex.

They have defined womanhood so narrowly that women who have had hysterectomies no longer fit the definition. Like, I am more than my period and childbearing capability.

Do you genuinely think trans women aren't denied jobs, food, and housing? Do you think they aren't murdered at absolutely staggering rates? Because if so I have a bridge to sell you.

My last roommate was a trans woman and she dealt with so much more shit than I did as a lesbian, and I have dealt with more than my fair share of shit.

It is transphobic to go on and on about how you only date "real women" and how gross and undatable trans women are. Much like it is racist to say the same things about women of color. Your individual dating choices are your own to make. It is the way you speak about other people that is the problem.

For the record, I am a cis lesbian who would absolutely date a trans woman if we hit it off. I would not, however, date a terf. I am every bit as much a lesbian as you are.

I got a really funny comment recently. The first sentence said my fic could have been a canon excerpt, but the second said MC wouldn’t act the way he does in the fic. SHROEDINGER’S Characterization, I guess.

I don't actively avoid long commenters or anything, but I really dislike long comments and the time I was matched to someone who writes stupidly long comments for everything I deliberately wrote them a short gift so they couldn't go on for several comment posts about it. (They still filled almost an entire single comment post, though, and I just. Sigh.)
