The replies to this... good lord. You guys really can't tell the difference between kinkshaming and calling out bigotry, can you? I'm going to go a step further than the people who were saying this sort of thing needs to be confined to letters. It's just not okay in a general exchange, full stop. There is a line when someone's kink starts hurting others, and this crosses it. This is bigotry. You can't really stop people from having this as a kink, but you can stop them from bandying it about in an environment where people may not be expecting to come across this sort of content. Yeah, okay, "choose not to warn" is a thing, but there's a difference in scale between how we apply that rule. Scrolling AO3 and finding a fic marked chose not to warn? That's on you if you click it. But scrolling an exchange tagset and finding something like this? The whole foundation of an exchange is community and reciprocity. Exchanges are not places for throwing around bigotry like it's just another kink, just another trope. Real people are harmed by the fact that there are people who consider this a kink. It's really not hard to have a "no homophobia" rule on a moderated exchange. And it's really not a wicked kinkshaming anti opinion to call out the person who requested it and the exchange mods for letting it happen, and to say that kinking out on bigotry should have no place in communal fandom.

Condemning it on coal is not a form of social justice or even an act of anti-homophobia. It’s just wanking. You have every right to be upset and not want to engage, but that requires you not participating in the space that allows it.

The person fed up with the casual racism outed heeroluva. The Yuletide mods tackled actual Nazism by banning real Nazis. If you have an issue with “homophobic” tags (or fictional Nazis) then avoid exchanges that approve them or make your own exchange where it isn’t okay. Based on the “many” people that dislike certain regular participants for their problematic content, I bet you would have a decent first year if they’re just as passionate as you.

The key here is that all kink exploration is safe, sane and consensual. People generally can’t be considered to be mentally well enough to consent to having themselves seriously harmed, so cannibalism would not be allowed for this event. Knife play might be as long as it is well tagged, everyone is in a positive frame of mind, understands the risks and is enthusiastically consenting.
