I said it upthread: boycott the exchange.

This is a tag seen by the mods and approved. Your issue is with the mods and not whoever nommed it.

Condemning it on coal is not a form of social justice or even an act of anti-homophobia. It’s just wanking. You have every right to be upset and not want to engage, but that requires you not participating in the space that allows it.

The person fed up with the casual racism outed heeroluva. The Yuletide mods tackled actual Nazism by banning real Nazis. If you have an issue with “homophobic” tags (or fictional Nazis) then avoid exchanges that approve them or make your own exchange where it isn’t okay. Based on the “many” people that dislike certain regular participants for their problematic content, I bet you would have a decent first year if they’re just as passionate as you.

Consent Event got exactly 13 works. It's almost as if events based on hating and excluding people for their fictional preferences don't do well. (But yes, please make your own exchange and leave us alone!)

NAYRT wait, was this made specifically in response to fests like nonconathon and conesnt issues? In that case wow, just lost a little respect for GlassesofJustice.

Yes! https://consentevent.tumblr.com The tumblr is a hoot, read the rules for prompts and works if you can find them. There was a discord too but I doubt you can find an invite link anymore.

Anonymous asked:

What about less vanilla kinks or darker kinks, like knife play or cannibalism? Are those okay if there's 100% explicit consent between the characters?

Thanks for the ask anon!

The key here is that all kink exploration is safe, sane and consensual. People generally can’t be considered to be mentally well enough to consent to having themselves seriously harmed, so cannibalism would not be allowed for this event. Knife play might be as long as it is well tagged, everyone is in a positive frame of mind, understands the risks and is enthusiastically consenting.

well... I mean... they're not wrong about cannibalism, are they?

no shade to anyone who enjoys it in fic! but anyone who's letting someone cut off and eat their leg in real life could probably do with some therapy.

This guy has the canonical ability to grow extra limbs at will.

haha ok you got me there

(Anonymous) 2019-12-31 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
and we can never write about anything that isn't reality
it is known

(Anonymous) 2019-12-31 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Of course we can. Just not in this event apparently, and that's okay...it's okay that there are different types of event. It's not an event for me, but I can see why some people would want it.

Context, coalie. That was in reply to "but anyone who's letting someone cut off and eat their leg in real life could probably do with some therapy"

(Anonymous) 2019-12-31 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
yeeeah... that was the context. And this is clearly not an event suited to writing about people cannibalising each other. It's an event about realistic consent. Which cannibalism is generally not. I don't really get how that's out of context.

There are plenty of places to get your unrealistic cannibalism fixes. Just not in consent event.

Regenerating-limb characters excepted.

I could have sworn I saw a consensual cannibalism fic with Wade Wilson in a flash exchange. I mean, he probably needs therapy, but it doesn't harm him.

Anonymous asked:

Are all ships welcome for this event?

Thanks for the question anonymous!

Yes, all ships are welcome as long as they fall within the event rules: no real people (self-inserts are okay) and any characters engaging in sexual activity must be over 18.

That being said, please keep in mind the nature of the event is all about consent and consider how power dynamics and different types of relationships might interact with that theme. We want the safety of readers to be maintained during this event while also allowing maximum flexibility.
