The type of person who uses “problematic” aspects of fiction (age gaps, underage, racism, sexism, etc.) and twist it into saying ships are not only not for them, but morally unacceptable for anyone to ship or kink on.

Some people also use it to dismiss anyone who has even the mildest concern or criticism of social issues in fandom.

I suppose I should emphasize that, for the first paragraph, an anti argument would be, like, 25 Year Old/His Childhood Best Friend’s 31-Year Old Older Brother would be pedophilic incest because of the slight gap and them having grown up around each up, and also racist because why are you ignoring his brown best friend, even though the older brother they’re calling a pedo rapist is also brown. It can be ridiculous to the extreme.

Don't forget that any fic between two characters who grew up together is incest, especially if they ever say 'like the brother I always wanted' or something similar. ;)

Anti is short for "anti-shipper." These are people who focus their emotional energy on pairings they hate. Antis assign buzzwords to ships they dislike to get people on their side - for example, Rey/Kylo Ren isn't just not your cup of tea, it's abusive and gaslighting - and them claim that anyone who writes that ship supports those things happening in real life.
Additionally, many believe that fanfics about unhealthy relationships /cause/ unhealthy relationships. Therefore, it is an anti's solemn moral duty to stop people from writing darkfic, including doxxing, harassing, whisper campaigns, and suicide baiting authors, in order to protect their potential readers.

To add, antis also sometimes obsess over non-shipping-related aspects of canons or creators they hate - for example, if you heard about that teenage girl in the Steven Universe fandom a couple years back who was bullied into attempting suicide over fanart, the people doing the bullying were antis who'd started a harassment campaign over her drawing a character too thin.

Even one more coalie to add on that one of the newer anti fads is the fujoshi thing. Their collective hive mind believes that m/m shippers are all straight women fetishizing gays and ruining the community, especially if they ship it as anything more than pure love. They refuse to believe that m/m shippers can be male or nonbinary, or not cis, or not heterosexual. Fujoshi has become a monolith of "gross stop sexualizing the gays you nasty pervert predators!!!!!!!"

Christ, I've seen that too, it pisses me off so bad. There's no level of critical thinking whatsoever and no awareness of anything outside themselves and the very narrow set of morals they deem acceptable. To me, that puritanical black-or-white thinking and authoritarian attitudes toward anyone who disagrees make antis a genuine issue in fandom, not just annoying wank.
