On the slim chance this isn't FS self-trolling again, and perhaps even then:

If you find yourself reacting this negatively to lack of recip comment less than 24 hours after work reveals, then yes, step away from exchanges for your own sake.

Did you look at your recip's past comments to see if they're usually just restrained in commenting?

The worst though is when you look and see that someone usually gives paragraphs of comment and then you get the "I love this fandom, the character I requested is my favorite" kiss of death.

even that doesn't always mean they hate it. sometimes my comments haven't been their usual length because i've been overwhelmed by real life, although i always keep them sincere, warm and appreciative and make sure to mention something i like about the fic.

It’s disappointing to get unenthusiastic comments, and yeah, you have to brace yourself for the possibility that that will happen. But try not to read too much into a single comment. Some people aren’t good at expressing what they want, and it’s not your fault if you didn’t give it to them. Some people leave short comments.

If you really think the issue was your writing quality, ask a beta for feedback.

In Candy Hearts, one of the most common complaints is that something was written for a / tag, but didn’t feel shippy.
