Morbane's coal

In quantum wankchanics, Morbane's coal is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, of quantum wankerposition. In the thought experiment, a hypothetical gift may be considered simultaneously both the fic of your dreams (TFOYD) and coal, while it is unread state, as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.

The Coaltide interpretation implies that, after a while, the gift is simultaneously TFOYD and coal. Yet, when a coalie clicks on their gift, the coalie sees the gift either TFOYD or coal, not both TFOYD and coal. This poses the question of when exactly quantum wankerposition ends and reality resolves into one possibility or the other.

Let's try this and see how it goes. Here's how it works:

First person: lists a thing they'd like a rec for, like "rec me hot m/f."
Person replying: gives a hot m/f rec, and then says what they'd like recs for, like "rec me creepy casefic."
New person: starts a new subthread with a new recs request.

And so on. In theory this should spawn lots of little subthreads full of recs! Say as much or as little about the recs as you want.

The main thing is that King Stephen of England essentially stole the crown from Empress Maude, whose son is Henry FitzEmpress|Henry II of England. There was a period of civil war and Henry's made past attempts to take the crown. King Stephen has a terrible heir, Eustace, and a much less terrible son, William.

Canon is The Indian Lake Trilogy by Stephen Graham Jones. (The first novel is My Heart is a Chainsaw, if that sounds more familiar.) In the novel the main character writes long essays about slasher tropes for school assignments, and in this fic, she's in a relationship with another girl from the novel and decides to study romcom tropes and write essays about those.
