coaltide | Morbane's coal

In quantum wankchanics, Morbane's coal is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, of quantum wankerposition. In the thought experiment, a hypothetical gift may be considered simultaneously both the fic of your dreams (TFOYD) and coal, while it is unread state, as a result of its fate being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.

The Coaltide interpretation implies that, after a while, the gift is simultaneously TFOYD and coal. Yet, when a coalie clicks on their gift, the coalie sees the gift either TFOYD or coal, not both TFOYD and coal. This poses the question of when exactly quantum wankerposition ends and reality resolves into one possibility or the other.

Obviously the recipient comment. I tailor gift fic to my recip and I kill it every fuckin' time, so I deserve equally tailored acknowledgment. Other people rolling up to the fic are welcome guests, but this is a rare fandom gift exchange, I'm not expecting heavy foot traffic.

My tinfoil hat is telling me it’s someone deliberately trying to invoke that comparison. The weird inhuman feet thing is just too similar - surely Untherius wouldn’t dare go there again, but I can see a wanker who wants drama taking inspiration from his famous piece.

I think you are saying the problem is people writing M/M but I think people are writing M/M because they are only being given M/M prompts, and it's actually people only requesting M/M prompts that are being called misogynistic.

But how many people only do Yuletide, and how many know about here or the FFA venting threads? Having had my Yuletide saved more than once by a treat after my main gift was an awful mess, I can sympathize with feeling an extra dose of gratitude towards the treat writer and wanting to express that.

This. It might not mash with unspoken exchange rules and etiquette, but it's a very understandable sentiment.

It's unfortunate of course if a fic doesn't hit the spot, but not something I'd complain publicly in the comments of my other gift about.

Yeah, same tbh. I spend a lot of time and energy to make sure my recip gets something they enjoy, and a rare fandom gets some new content. That's what Yuletide is all about for me. Getting a nice, equally thoughtful gift myself is nice, but I accept that I can't hit the jackpot every year. But I can do my best every year to make my recipient happy.

I wrote m/m for my assignment because my recip wanted that, I had hopes (not high, but still) that someone would ask for f/f for that fandom I'd offered all characters for... So yeah, if you want to be the change it's more about what you request than what you end up writing imo

I don't think Untherius writes slash.

He didn't use to but I haven't really paid much attention more recently.
