Present always seems, at least to me, to have a breathless immediacy to it. Past comes off as calmer.

Do not do the thing I did once and write a fic that, due to excessive use of sentence fragments and -ing verbs, technically doesn't have a tense.

I've put in wrapping paper requests a few times and never gotten any bites, so I quit and decided to put my effort into fests that actually include fanart. I've never seen any of my mutuals who request in Wrapping Paper get any, either. Are there actually a significant number of fills? AO3 shows a total of 3 fanart fills last year and only 2 the year before.

I got one one year! Not recently, though. But just looking through the last 10 years it looks like the most Madness works tagged art was 7, a couple years 6, a couple years 4, occasionally 1 or 0.

I don't feel strongly enough to DNW past tense but if I had the choice, it would always be present. As a creator, a present tense DNW is a dealbreaker to me (which doesn't mean people shouldn't DNW it, just that I'd be the worst possible match for them).

These requests would be equally bad without or without the additional tags. Requesting four characters and only talking about two of them is the same probably regardless of which box you checked.

There's only one request in which they do that. And I don't think that's bad, as long as it's clear you want the others. People don't always have ideas for all the characters they prompt, they just know they want them.

They did not make it at all clear they would be okay with fic only about one of the unmentioned characters not in their ship.

I'm surprised by the coalies itt saying present is the default in what they read. It's the default in what I write, but most of what I read is in past tense - which in turn results in some awkward tense switches in my own fic because I never know how much past is past enough to warrant a different tense. Sometimes I still slip up and use past perfect instead of simple past.

I first encountered present tense in narration in 2014ish and therefore it is still shiny and new to me. I love it! I don't mind if my gift is written in past, present, or future, though.

I've seen a few requests for art in the app. People just didn't know/bother to find the mini challenge post.

You could try searching the app for keywords like "art".
