Same x2. I push myself to hit 1K for exchanges and challenges with a minimum wordcount (my assignment this year isn’t like 1003 words but is less than 1.5K). I just don’t write long stuff most of the time! My longest standalone work is less than 5K and was written over multiple months (I intended it as a oneshot or twoshot and then I continued. Wasn’t for an exchange or anything.) The longest work I wrote this year was 3.6K and took a month (also not an assignment, and also wasn’t intended to be a specific wordcount, it just kinda kept going.) I worked hard on my assignment and think my recip will like it too, because it’s about their requested ship and likes and stuff.

I also wrote treats, some for my recipient and some for other people, and they’re all in Madness. If I write something between now and December 26 that’s long enough for the main collection that would be very impressive, even if it’s exactly 1K words.

I don't think it's minimum = bad necessarily, more the combo of just over minimum and just before deadline rings a little alarm bell.

Not everyone who writes short fics doesn’t care, but 99% of people who don’t care write short fics. But hey, if you wrote a good one and your recip’s expecting it to be low effort, that just means they’ll be extra impressed by your 1k of gold!

Trying to insert yourself into someone else's harmless spiralling just to have something to be mad at on an anon comm might be something to bring up with your own therapist.

“get therapy” will always be a stupid take. therapy is not free, depending on your area there might be a years-long wait or no therapists available or a mental health system that treats people like scum who need to be punished. not every therapist is good, and if your issues are severe or complex you’ll have to do a lot of hunting to find one who can actually help you. and besides all that, if a person in not in the headspace for change, for whatever reason, therapy’s not going to do any good, no matter how money or effort they expend, no matter how good the therapist.

that’s not even getting into the rancid vibes of “i find your mental illness annoying, so your not going to therapy is a slight against me and also against society”. it’s one thing if someone’s hurting people, and a whole other thing if they’re just being mildly annoying. that’s life mate, people are annoying sometimes! therapy doesn’t exist to make people more tolerable to you! /rant lmao

haven't played type-0 so I can't comment on the underwear, but stranger of paradise is very different from FF1, isn't it? A different story and some additional characters etc.?

I was one of the several 16 nominators and expected it to be rejected because it went over the 1000 mark during the nomination period, but that was for the mods to decide. Obviously it won't be in Yuletide ever again, so that will appease you and cyrt, I hope.
