Re: Brainstorming
(Anonymous) 2019-11-12 06:05 am (UTC)(link)I'm considering some sort of sickness but I've never written that kind of thing before and I'm not really keen on the research - but maybe sickness could lead to a problem (reduced work capacity and people making mistakes). Or maybe some kind of space event (solar emission? comet?) that causes a disruption. Or it could be a people problem, IDK. Aliens aren't a thing in this universe, although there are some superstitious people who might consider them.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-12 06:15 am (UTC)(link)Heating gets fucked so people have to bunk up.
A bug goes around the ship and those that are immune/better have to pick up a lot of slack while everyone else is out for the count.
An auditor/diplomat is coming on short notice.
Something goes wrong during scheduled diagnostics so a lot of previously automated things have to be done manually while they wait for a multi-step reboot.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-12 09:50 am (UTC)(link)I really like the last one especially - that suits what I was thinking perfectly, where problems gradually escalate rather beginning with one dramatic event. The second could be fun for tropes though.
