coal, tell me. do i need an evidence post for a robin hood retelling? its not connected to any other robin hood canon, apart from, you know, being a robin hood retelling. there are some pretty big differences to the usual stuff too.

I would say yes - to be on the safe side.

If you filter “Robin Hood - All Media Types” by word count and English only, you get 1506 fics, of which 946 are for “Robin Hood - BBC 2006” (no other sub-fandom comes even close); of those, 142 are cross-overs. So unless the retelling is the 2006 BBC one, I think you’re way in the clear.

Unless you might need to clarify *which* retelling it is, you're good. If you're putting in some of the childe ballads or something, yes evidence post. If you're putting in a kids' book titled "Adventures of Robin Hood" with no authorship consistently listed, or a silent film that only exists as fragments on YouTube and a partial script, yes evidence post.

If it's a relatively recent and wide-distribution adaptation where the fandom tag you're nominating makes it really obvious which adaptation it is, and googling that fandom tag will give the mods plenty of information about that adaptation, you shouldn't need to.
