I wonder if I should make a promo post. Do people actually look at those?

Anyone got experience with this? Has it ever helped you get more people into your tiny canons if you made a promo post?

I look at them, but not necessarily during yuletide. I go back to the promo post randomly through the year when I'm looking for canon recs, and when I like something I offer it the next year 'round if it's still being requested.

It has! One person who wrote me a treat said in their author's note that they picked up my canon from the promo post. It had zero fics on AO3 before that!

I look! I wrote someone a treat based on their promo post because I had seen bits of the canon before but never finished, and they inspired me to do so.

I regularly read the promo post, and one of my best and most memorable Yuletide experiences involved matching on and writing a canon I picked up from a promo! Definitely worth it, IMO.

I've added offers based on promo post, and matched on one at least once. (Usually it's stuff I already know though, but the enthusiasm in the promo post made be realize I'd have fun writing it.)

I absolutely look at them. I haven't ever changed my offers or requests the same year based on something from the post, but I've definitely picked up fandoms that I might offer or request in the future. Also, one year someone checked out my extremely obscure promo'd fandom and wrote me a treat! It can happen!

This. It probably won't make a difference for this year (although it might! who knows!), but I do make a list and try things from it eventually, to possibly offer in the future.
