Re: Preference rating game! -- Taskmaster UK

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone wants to want about boring things, so I'll play the ranking game canon-blind! BE THE CHANGE ETC. Not going to read letters.

#1 arbitrarily: I understand that lots of effort might have gone into the letter that I'm not clicking on, but even a one or two sentence primer on what I might expect would be helpful for treating. HELP US HELP YOU

#2 Ashling: See, this is what I mean :D A bunch of permissions, and clear DNWs with some explicit opt-ins to help entice me to click.

#3 everyfragment: See #1

#4 longwhitecoats: I enjoy this one line promo and kinda want to click through to the letter to find out how bad comedians can be at doing tasks. Is this what Taskmaster is about???

#5 NewEyes: Appreciate the clear DNWs delineating how to handle some common RPF issues. The list of prompts is small but hey, I like compact signups too. HOW MANY DUCKS???

#6 sabinelagrande: see #1

#7 subito: Around the same as #4. What IS the dynamic? Is this show worth watching? UK TV, always so tempting.

#8 Toft: At least they said thank you before punting me to the letter.

I suspect if I were in the fandom I would enjoy having so many requests to click through to! Jealousy. /looks at sad tiny fandom pile

Yes. It’s an absolute delight! I’m not fannish about it, but I love the show.

Canon-blind review (I'M SORRY COALIES I DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT FANDOMS OKAY, SOMEONE GIVE ME A FAIRY TALE CANON OR SOMETHING), but I have been wanting to pick up DE so maybe this will kick me.

AstroGirl: Sorry Cop Harry is such a great description, ha. I like this small summary! Would incite me to click through. The DNW list is a lil' hard to read from like a superduper nitpicky wall o' text with lots of parentheticals point of view but it's a OD box, I'm not gonna judge.

Bevita: Are Art Cop, Sorry Cop, and Hobo Cop CANON TERMS? This is amazing. Same as above, a good little sell to make me click through to the letter if I knew the fandom.

delgaserasca: Ooh, I like the insertion of a bunch of tropes in the first little paragraph that makes it clear what I could be signing up for. And the callout to the letter! Ha. Called me out. Solid ODs, would 100% click through.

egelantier: Clicking through to letter not so bad when there's a long list of likes. What's a Clair universe? I learn new things every day.

Esteliel: I'm enjoying that the fandom consensus around Kim and Harry seems largely the same. SOBER COMMUNIST HARRY! So many versions of you, harry. Who are you??? Nice list of tropey prompts, with some in-canon ones that would surely hook me if I were in the canon. Excellent ODs!

finkpishnets: Same as all the other ODs that have no real prompts for the canon, but again I appreciate the likes list to offset the DNWs.

greenfionn: ODs are more commentary than prompts, but I like that it gives me something to work on even if the prompts are of the kinda hard to work with (for me) super generic variety. WHO OR WHAT IS A PISSF***** anyway, Disco Elysium I have no time to play youuuuu

grenadine: Not clicking through to that letter but always worried when I see 4 characters with no OR out or tiny indication of what might be in store for the AND group adventure.

loyalsidekicks: See above, but at least with bonus likes.

Orichalxos: I love being prompted to get weird with a whole bunch of options. I WANT TO WHISPER IN REVACHOL'S VOICE. Are they like the Lady of Pain from Planescape, from which DE takes inspiration? I WANT MORE TIME. CYRT, if you are in this fandom, can you please sell me on this canon some more. Give me reasons to play and treat!

patrokla: "See linked letter!" NO LINKED LETTER D: D: D:

plumedy: Looong list of only DNWs doesn't make for a positive treating experience to start with, but hey, at least a bunch of them are canon-specific and give me the vibe this person wants, which is doubting Peter Communist Harry.

PositivelyVexed: Nice enthusiasm, but has the normal very generic set of ideas + fandom squee in the ODs and probably more in the letter. C'mon, requesters! Tempt me with one really good small prompt hook in the ODs! Beat out your competitors!

tigrrmilk: Ooh, a different set of requester characters, all of which make me want to PLAY THIS GAME MORE. I love this as a worldbuilding prompt but centred on characters instead of the tag because of course anything inspired by Planescape is gonna have the world as characters... Nice feint on asking for Acele instead of the Deserter instead of forcing an odd OR match on 3 characters that I assume people wouldn't really offer.

woodironbone: I WANT TO WRITE WORLDBUILDING FOR THIS FANDOM NOW. Can I just have a pocket plane? I want radiocomputer worldbuilding for you.

youjik33: Admitting the hard truth that you can love the canon and then have nooo idea what to request for it. I empathise. Would be a lil' hard to work on if I were the sort of writer who needs prompts, but IT'S DISCO BABY, I like the FREEDOM of this prompt and I'm sure requesters looking to go wild on DE would too.

HELP DE COALIES, give me hope on playing this through before December?

Re: Preference rating game! - Sex Education

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Coalies I'm trying really hard to get through these but man y'all need to pick some that don't have like 9000 requests or at least narrow 'em down to a subset because my fingers hurt and I need to pretend to be a real human being at work soon.

Canon-blind again. Tragique. Not reading letters again. Tragique x2.

BuffyAndBetty: No letter, but a nice small OD fill that at least makes me feel like I'm going to be writing for a human being who will be down to comment on Christmas day.

buries: Nice OR out, I enjoy some formatting in the letter when the app renders it nicely. Hey, if you love Ruby, let that red flag fly. I enjoy the solid list paragraph of why you like it and the long list of bullet prompts. Very clear all around.

cathedralhearts: So short, no letter! I mean, you know you want the shipfic, but you ain't helping your shipfic writer. No need to give anyone gen outs, but the general tone of the request would make me unenthused - I'd rather write for someone with a bit more upbeat energy in their prompt than someone who sounds kinda dismissive.

centreoftheselights: Solid usual Normal Type Pokemon signup with the DNWs and a lil' bullet list of prompts. Would click through if I knew what this was about! Presumably something about educating people about sex. Maybe.

Emilise284: only DNWs? D: Sell me a lil', recip!

FictionPenned: I am coming around to the double pipe || separator for people who presumably don't want to list likes and DNWs because of the looooong scroll. But my eyes still sort of bleed a little; I'd be afraid of missing something. But the DNWs list isn't super long so maybe not a problem. WAIT, NO LETTER? AND JUST THIS WALL OF LIKES AND ONE REQUESTED CHARACTER? Too broad, my mind quakes.

heartofwinterfell: I like the tone and hey, no letter and short signup but this is one of those that I'd be perfectly fine getting because there's at least clear direction!

Okay be back with the rest later, gotta go put on my lizard suit.

Re: Preference rating game! - Disco Elysium

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
CYRT, yep, but like I said at the top, I'm not clicking through to letters and just reviewing based on what's in ODs. I'm sure canon-knowledgeable writers would have a good time surfing this embarrassment of riches of prompts.

Oh shit I guess I didn't say it in this review. Well, my bad! But yes, wasn't reading letters. :)

CYRT

I am in this fandom and am one of the people on this list :D

Revachol isn't like the Lady of Pain because they have very different temperaments, but the basic concept is not dissimilar - it's a genius loci of a city. As some who adores PST, I think DE is marvellous and really scratches some of the same itches, in addition to being an absolutely beautiful and infinitely creative game on its own.

It's not very long at all, you don't need to spend tons of time on a playthrough, so you can definitely play it several times over before December if you wanted to. Or once, once is fine - you can always look up some LP bits if the recip is asking for something you haven't seen.

"Art Cop", "Sorry Cop", and "Hobocop" are indeed canon terms :D

Lilith: Nice to see a different character requested, and a nice paragraph about what they like about this Lily person. Solid likes and DNWs as well in this OD box, so easy to catch the vibe off. Perfectly treatable!

Northernsociety: An Any request that acknowledges Any! Hard for me to comment on without clicking through or knowing the canon, but I imagine this would be hard AF to stick into an OD box. Bold, brave requester!

thiswildernessismyhome: Same general drift as all the other general prompt + DNWs in the "solid OD, nothing super catchy" category. I do like the okaying all ratings note.

underwater_owl: this one liner about "if he gets knocked down, please end with him getting back up again!" is weirdly compelling and I want to click through to the letter just because it's so different!

viudanegra: No ODs ):

Re: Preference rating game! - Exandria Unlimited

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Same reviewer back for more canon-blind, non-letter clickthrough "reviews". At this point, this is a game for me to see which fandom is most capable of selling itself to me without any context. Planescape Disco Elysium is currently winning, but let's see how Exandria Unlimited does...

SOMEONE ELSE PLAY OR POPCORN.GIF WITH ME.

AvandraTheMarySueSlayer: WHAT a username, ha! I like the cheesy opening thanking the writer - happy Yuletide, yo! Bold Any, but it seems fairly reasonable to me; that said, heck if I know how many characters were requested for this fandom. No letter, so it's really open all things considered. What is a please don't about "there's going to be inevitable concerns, with Opal wearing the crown"? That's... uh... not a DNW? Is it? Canon coalies, you have to decide yourselves.

deepestbluesky: ANOTHER ANY. No ODs, so I skip.

delgaserasca: Hooray, a chunky OD to read and dig through! And again, Any! Whassup, Exandria fandom. I like the general sense of what this person wants, and would click through if I were a treater even though I'm not immediately hooked.

DigitalMeowMix: nice to see a perennial participant /running out of things to say in these canon blind reviews, lol. No ODs, so I skip.

exhaustedwerewolf: ANY WITH NO LETTER, so bold. I guess if you want to gift to the Yuletide Fairy of Exandria Unlimited, this is your chance.

ferngill: OR out for 4 characters; I respect you not going to Any. WHO IS THE SPIDER QUEEN, is she literally the spider, of is this the crown person from #1? In-ODs opt-in for IF: get in here, interactive fiction folk! +1 for being so different from other requests. Coalies, at this point this is like reading college admission essays; it's almost better to be weird than to be wholesome and unforgettable...

grenadine: No ODs, bye bye.

J (jaywright): Nice lil paragraph of what they'd like to see with a somewhat confusing switch between lapslock and normal sentence case if and only if the sentence starts with an I. Wow, I'm noticing some weird shit now. A little confusing to have a square bracket paren saying any pairing/threesome/gen welcome for 3 requested characters at the top... and then a round bracket paren at the end saying actually ORing is okay. PUT IT ALL TOGETHER AT DA TOP, REDUCE MY LAZINESS IN HANDLING COGNITIVE LOAD.

mammothluv: Ohhh, is this a Critical Role series now? Got it, got it. This person wants femslash, hooray! More power to ya. Maybe the other people wanted femslash too but I can't tell who's F based on fantasy names anymore. No letter, but a nice generic Yuletide prompt.

maybetwice: Again no letter, but again a nice paragraph that has individual personality. There was an alignment change? Nice mechanic to play with!

Settiai: Yet more Any! The sky is the limit! General prompts with what I'm sure will have more details in the letter. Man, this fandom has almost too many Anys; as a treater I would be spoilt for choice. SO AGAIN, LET YOUR FREAK FLAGS FLY, RECIPS.

steepedinwords: Ooh, requesting only Orym. Nice! If I were a character writer I'd gift to this person first, obviously. No letter, but same as many other requests in this fandom, decent little paragraph in ODs.

teacup_of_doom: Requesting 4 without giving an OR out with no letter, a lil bit of danger zone because it's hard for me personally to write ensemble well! But hey, if it's Critical Role it's probably campaigned based so it's probably a little easier to do than maybe some other 4-person requests. I enjoy the little personable hellos; makes me feel loved as a reader of requests. Hello to you too!

Vae: A few specific bullet prompts, a rarity in this fandom! All a little generic but HEY GIRLS AND ROPE WORK SKILLS? Winky face.

velcroboyfriends: This person ships Dorian/Dariax and I feel it. Kinda no gen outs, but I have no idea if this is a canon ship, and the person is enthusiastic enough without sounding like a total headcase that I don't feel too pressured by it.

WHEW. GETTING THERE, COAL. Did you know, CAPTCHA is yelling at me every comment because they think I'm writing you like MLM ads or something, these comments are so long?

Re: Preference rating game! Queen’s Gambit

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Reviewer coalie coming in for another one. Same as other reviews, I don't read letters and I have no idea what this canon is.

AngstBlanket: I AM CONFUSED. This person requests Beth but the ODs be like "I have provided prompts for the backstories of Alma, Annette Parker, and Beth's bio mom" and says if you want to write those people and ignore Beth, go ahead. UHHHHH. AND matching strikes oddly again. Is this game about che-- OH, queen's gambit, I get it.

(Yes, coal, I do live under a rock. Find me in historical fandoms, because I got nothing on these modern ones.)

OPTING INTO IF!!! Go, interactive chess coalies, go treat!

Arsenic: List of likes and DNWs front and centre, and a request for a sensitivity reader or to avoid BDSM or Judaism. The recent wank on sens readers and $$ aside, I think that's fine. Just don't write it, yo. No letter, and they just want more Jolene. Fair cop; I wouldn't know what to do with it as a writer who needs prompts though.

blossominribcage: Not the best way to have a single-line OD re: having read the book put you off the idea of Beth/Jolene, alas for the TV people. Still, that's valid! Maybe the letter is more enticing.

brella: No ODs, thank god for my fingers. HOW AM I ONLY ON THE Bs???

elegantstupidity: everyone loves Beth, huh? Here's someone else who wants just her if you want to write for them. But you knew that, if you were in Queen's Gambit fandom. I truly am adding no value here.

etoilecourageuse: No ODs

heyoh: There's a whole genre of "I don't care, I just want more of ___" that is the standard cafeteria meal of Yuletide requests. It's not a bad thing, just, help a writer out here! Maybe the letter has more.

mustlovemustypages: Ooh, a long OD section. It sells me on this series having character exploration! And tells me what this person likes. And bulleted prompts! Hallelujah. AND a letter. Nice.

paperclipbitch: No ODs, thank you thank you.

pendrecarc: Nice chunky OD section again, with prompts both general and specific! Worldbuilding-y context too! COLD WAR CHESS, who doesn't love it. Appreciate the specifications on infidelity too.

thisismetrying: Suddenly we have all these ODs! Everyone loves Beth again, and here's a Beth/Benny shipper for anyone who wants them, but also with a Beth-only out. Lots of bulleted prompts! Brings this one to the top of a canon blind read.

Chess coalies, you've got a lot to mine here. Man, if someone does an IF fic of a chess game with additional text for this fandom that'd be cool, huh?

Re: Preference rating game! Ted Lasso

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
lmao fuck it.

Under a cut (I hope) for obvious reasons.

ChristyCorr. 10/10 would write them Roy and Keely railing Jamie.

etben. Would absolutely treat, since they're specifically requesting ridiculous fandom tropes, which I always think are fun to write for Yuletide.

likeadeuce. Would treat on Roy coaching Jamie while Roy eats tapas, I actually laughed at that prompt.

Nestra. I wish their letter had headings but yep would write the threesome they ask for.

Sonni89. Multiple Jamie/Roy/Keeley prompts I'd write, especially sex bets.

whetherwoman. Same, minus the sex bets.

legendofthefireemblem. Lots of prompts, would love to write about the team and there's a bunch of options. Could treat for sure.

svgurl410. Super comprehensive letter and I like their amnesia prompt, would treat.

Lenore. There's a lot of good stuff here and I would definitely treat - my only hesitation is I think their prompts trend towards longer fic and I personally have to take exams in December. But that's a me problem.

LilyC. Would treat, especially since they asked for missing scenes, and they've written enough about the characters that I have a sense of what they want.

syllic. I'm intrigued by their "Roy and Dr. Fieldstone's Big Silent Day Out: An Adventure in London" prompt! I'd need to do research though (text my friend in London about London a bunch).

Jen_814. Would treat on the minor character study or ensemble fic for sure. Also appreciate that they requested no excessive swearing and then were like, obviously Roy Kent is the exception here.

elegantstupidity. Nicely formatted letter, though the prompt is more about the Jamie/Roy/Keeley dynamics. But their likes are comprehensive so I'd def consider treating.

i_am_girlfriday. Actually, a fic about Roy and Keeley first meeting - since it's clearly before the show began - would be fun to treat. I could go full early 2010s.

Meadow Lion. I've never considered Colin and Isaac for shipfic, so I'd want to rewatch some S1 episodes, but I like the ideas here.

ohtempora. Into the pairing, could treat their bodyswap prompt.

Pluche. I like the prompt of Roy and Jamie competing for Keeley's attention; would treat if I could get the comedic tone right.

inlovewithnight. Very generic threesome prompts, but that's fine, would treat.

likethenight. Also generic ensemble prompts, but still could treat.

redbrunja. Their letter is making me want to write the controversial-to-Tumblr-shippers Sam/Rebecca treat, so that's unexpected.

SingARoundelay. I like their unexpected friendships prompt, would consider writing Ted&Roy.

SuburbanSun. I would def consider treating either Beard and Ted in Kansas, or a newspaper profile on Beard.

victoria_p. I like the Ted and Rebecca go to a gala prompt, I'd consider it.

kormantic. I would for sure treat Roy and the Yoga Ladies, I'm just worried I wouldn't get the tone right.

CaptainSif. A well-formatted gdocs letter! I'm not feeling inspired necessarily by any of the prompts - it's a lot of "I'd like to see more of..." but they're fine with so many combinations of the requested characters that I could come up with something, and they've go general likes I could work with.

caphairdadbeard. Placeholder letter, but good prompts in the app, and I would write a Rebecca/Keeley fill.

fenellaevangela. I'm intrigued by their Bantr dating app prompt, and the Ted/Trent Rebecca idea.

strifechaos. Not into their AU prompts but their trope prompts are all treatable.

htbthomas. I could definitely treat Ted/Rebecca in romcom scenarios. Not a lot of prompts but they're more than workable.

mammothluv. I actually love the idea of Keeley and Rebecca taking a trip together, so it wouldn't be my first choice to treat, but I'd happily do it.

NeelyO. Wouldn't write the Ted/Trent fluff, but I like their prompt about Keely/Rebecca hooking up on road trips, so I could treat that.

thelittlestbird. There's nothing wrong with this letter, but it isn't speaking to me. Still, I could find something.

aworldinside. Wouldn't be my first choice, but I could treat this, I think, especially since they say they're fine with a few scenes of Ted and Beard getting used to Richmond.

sunsetmog. Placeholder letter, and I don't want to necessarily write relationship negotiation fic, though I could do get-together.

nitpickyabouttrains. I'd write Roy and Jamie's developing relationship but I'm not sure how to do that without writing a game fic, so I wouldn't know how to make it good.

Kennesaw. Cute fluff of any of the characters is such a broad prompt that I wouldn't prefer it but I could do it.

misantlery. There's nothing wrong with their letter, but it's not speaking to me. That being said I hope someone writes them the Keeley/Rebecca Purge fic of their dreams.

kathrybe. Nothing wrong with their letter, I'm just not inspired by the Rebecca/Keeley fic they want, though I could probably write a PWP.

Roccolinde. Same as above.

Emilise284. Not inspired by the letter, and they should turn off suggestions in gdocs, but I guess? I could write kidfic? If I had to?

thesunsaid. I could possibly do the Rebecca and Trent both realize they're into Ted prompt, but I'm not feeling it. Well-done letter though.

doorrepairgirl. The letter is just the signup, okay sure. I could do Keely and Trent grudging work-related friendship, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

biochemprincess. I like Roy/Keeley but I don't particularly want to write an AU, and I'm not even sure I'd want to write post-S2 fic. We have similar feelings on the actual pairing, though, and I could probably do post-S1 fic for them.

armadillo1976. My first instinct - since the prompt is just "explore Ted's character", more or less, was fuck no, but I actually think I could treat 1k of character introspection about his divorce or whatever. Also why have a letter, it's so short.

Acephalous. Very brief prompt but I ship it, so if I had an idea I wanted to run with, why not.

kirazi. Placeholder letter, but I guess I could do Sharon and Ted platonic fic.

heartofwinterfell. No letter, wouldn't be my first choice, but I like the background Richmond team, so I could write about Colin.

dasyatidae. Not that interested in writing Ted/Trent, but the idea of a "two lonely guys in their forties making a life together" is at least an intriguing jumping-off point for fic.

gnen. Also brief, wouldn't treat, but I am at least capable of writing Rebecca/Keeley flirting at the office Christmas party.

Maidenjedi. The only request of theirs I'd probably do is the Ted/Rebecca stuff, but the letter itself is more than fine.

PR Zed. I could technically treat them on Roy/Keeley but they seem to moreso want Ted/Trent, so. Eh.

LilyRosePotter. Not interested in writing Rebecca/Keeley/Roy, but I like that their letter has gifs?

alasse. It's so brief if you don't ship Ted/Trent, I'm not sure what you'd do.

sev313. Not interested, but good prompts.

mardia. I don't super want to write tragic backstory fic, and I'm not particularly interested in the OT3 they want, but the letter itself is good.

chainofclovers. No letter, and the only prompt seems to be stories about sexuality and stories about home/found family. I could maybe do something with the latter for these requested characters, but would prefer real prompts.

greyathena. Not really a prompt per se, but if I wanted to write Ted/Rebecca and wanted a lot of latitude, anything goes except moving to Kansas is workable.

ourdarkspirits. This isn't a blank signup but it might as well be. The characters are workable for me though.

finkpishnets. Not interested in writing Ted/Trent praisekink.

Wildgoosery. Not much to go on and I do want to write about sports, so eh.

ihopethatyouburn. Not interested in writing about Nora and Rebecca, but I'd probably read it if someone does.

akamarykate. Nothing wrong with the prompt, I'm just totally uninterested in writing Ted Lasso kidfic. But reasonable likes/DNWs, and I hope it's up someone's alley.

gutterandthestars. Their letter specifically cites an existing fic (which I did not write because I am not leupagus), so I wouldn't treat them.

leiascully. "Amazing ladies" as a prompt doesn't work for me.

Shanynde. I don't want to write about Nate.

boasamishipper. Google Docs letter and the Ted Lasso section is TBD but other stuff is filled in so nope. Dodged a bullet here since I offered characters they requested too.

Elasmo. They requested Any and it's such a broad prompt I...have no idea what they want.

cashewdani. I genuinely kind of hate Sassy's character, so nope.

everythinginstatic. I am not Christian so I will not be treating them with Christmas fic.

I don't understand why you'd participate if you don't know the canon AND you're not even going to look at the letters. Those are completely unlike the circumstances in which people actually treat!

Re: Yuletide TYWAU

The two roles are fairly similar, honestly.

/has done both
