coaltide | COALTIDE Episode IV: A New Hope

It is a period of indecision.
Gaming gone right for some,
coalies successfully snagging
the assignment they wanted,
the first major hurdle against
Yuletide odds is a victory.

However for those not as lucky
to have gotten the recipient they
wanted, coalies can't help but
think about the hidden requests,
missed bullet and gem alike,
they now have to wait months
to get access to.

Haunted by these assignments that
could have been, or perhaps
mourning the gaming attempt that
went awry, coalies tell themselves
that they will get started on their
assignment right away so that they can
treat to their hearts content and
restore happiness to the Yuletide galaxy....

aeruthiel - no letter, no prompts, skip

captainelle - no letter, based solely on the likes I would write threesome Mummy in space, Alpha!Evy porn

eris_historia - I don't actually know what woobiefication means, but other than that this is fine; limited prompts but offers both romance and world building options, definitely something to work with here

flawsinthevoodoo - all four characters picked, but the prompt is ship Jon/Ardeth, which is not very useful; long list of general likes, though, and trope+ship is a start at least, I guess; I would probably write accidental marriage fic? not very inspired here

imperiousheiress - somewhat better at connecting all four characters, based on the prompt, but the expanded letter tells me I should be writing Jonathan fic while not really giving me more than "write more about Jon"; not really sure where I would start here

jedibuttercup - another "write about Jon" request, but at least they only picked the one character this time; Jon + adventure + Peru is actually enough for me, but the only other prompt just removes Peru from that list, so this might be a hard starter for someone else

missjuliamiriam - no letter, no prompts, skip

nemainofthewater - if you don't want to write christmas shenanigans, you are pretty stuck here; I'd probably end up writing 1k words of fluff, just them having dinner together, and I don't think either I or the recipient would be happy with the result

noblealice - I'm kind of annoyed at the Alex centric prompt when he's not nominated, and if you're not into kidfic, you are out of luck here; I have no idea how to write babies, so I admit I would probably ignore the prompts given and write Rick and Evy taking Alex on his first dig and hope for the best

roccolinde - "please write Rick/Evy", basically; without anything else to go on, I would probably write Evy pegs Rick pwp, which I think the recipient would go for, but kind of boring

russian_blue - this seems like a reasonable idea (write something canon-like, but different mummy), up until they mention they were an archaeologist, which would make me super worried about them nitpicking historical accuracy; not sure where I would start here - probably something after the first movie because they only want older Alex but didn't like the third movie, so that narrows the scope considerably

silverink - variety-ish of prompts, likes, reasonable DNWs, nothing stand out good or bad here, I would be okay being assigned this

wiccy - good variety of prompts (and a five minute fandom alternative if you were really stick), clear likes and dislikes; also I read as far as Imhotep/Phryne Fisher in the ship list and wanted that before I even reached the actual prompts, but also kudos for having actual prompts before the actual crossover request itself

wildlives - do other people find "please write ship" prompts good? not much to work with here, generic likes -- I'd be tempted to just rewrite the Mummy from Ardeth and Jon's perspective with a shippy slant; not sure how well that would go down

wingsyouburn - I hope everyone offering the Mummy also hated the third movie; only individual prompts but also clear they are happy with OR not AND, so that's not too bad; I would probably try and write the Ardeth backstory and Jonathan shenanigans prompts into a Rick/Evy wedding, but I think there's enough here (with the likes) to focus fic on any one of the characters without issue

Of these, I would be happy to get wingsyouburn and wiccy, okay with eris_historia and silverink, and make a go at jedibuttercup and captainelle; not sure what I'd do with any of the others, though.
